Master Item holding unused field

Unused Measure/Dimension "xxx" references the field "yyy" which would otherwise be unused

An unused Master Measure or Master Dimension is the only consumer of a field that is not otherwise referenced in charts, variables, bookmarks or other master items. Because the holding Master Item is itself unused, the referenced field is effectively unused as well.

Removing the Master Item would allow the field to be dropped from the data model, recovering the memory occupied by the field.

Guide​

Review the flagged Master Measure or Master Dimension to confirm it is no longer needed. If the Master Item may be removed:

  • Delete the Master Item from the application.
  • Run a new QSDA collection to allow the now unused field to be moved to the unused field list.
  • Follow the guide in Unused Fields to remove the now unused field.

After removing Master Items and dropping fields, run a QSDA collection to confirm no syntax errors or "missing" flags have surfaced.
